To make sure that ServAssure NXT operates correctly and reports accurate time stamps, you must configure the NTP Time Synchronization within the Operating System to a common Network Time Protocol (NTP) server.

In a typical ServAssure NXT deployment, all systems are configured as NTP clients, and the clients are served by one or more Stratum 2 or Stratum 3 NTP servers. It is preferable that the NTP servers be on your enterprise network. However, they may be public servers on the Internet if their geographic proximity and access policies are appropriate to your environment.
NOTE: Both ntpd and chronyd daemons are supported.

If you are implementing synchronization via NTP:

  1. During the deployment planning phase, identify the NTP servers that must provide time synchronization services to your ServAssure NXT systems.
  2. Configure the Operating Systems of each server as NTP clients and ensure that they are in sync.
NOTE: If the ServAssure NXT servers are virtualized, the platform may provide time synchronization at the hardware virtualization layer. If this is the case, make sure that each virtual machine is synchronized appropriately.
