In ServAssure NXT Proactive Manager, you can see whether the modems below an amplifier are meeting the targeted attenuation and the correct power level. You can look at the relative values to see whether amplifiers are out of specification.
See Amplifiers view in Related information for information on the Amplifier table.
To analyze attenuation and power level
Select a Proactive alarm in Alarms view.
Open Amplifiers view.
The amplifiers that are involved in the alarm are selected.
Click the arrow next to the selected alarm in the Alarms table to open the sub-table.
Click the Issues tab and select Show by Frequency to see which types of issues occur on which frequencies.
Select an RF Parameter from the Parameter drop-down menu. You can analyze:
Absolute Receive Power Average (dBmV): Average Receive Power reported by the cable modems below a given amplifier. Triggered when the absolute average Receive Power is above or below the threshold range, as calculated at the fiber node and at amplifier depths N+1, N+2, etc.
Relative Receive Power Average (dB): The difference between the average Receive Power at one amplifier relative to its parent amplifier. Triggered when the relative average Receive Power is above or below the threshold range, as calculated at the fiber node and at amplifier depths N+1, N+2, etc.
Absolute Attenuation Average (dB): Average Attenuation reported by the cable modems below a given amplifier. Triggered when the absolute average Attenuation is above or below the threshold range, as calculated at the fiber node and at amplifier depths N+1, N+2, etc.
Relative Attenuation Average (dB): The difference between the average attenuation at one amplifier relative to its parent amplifier. Triggered when the relative average Attenuation is above or below the threshold range, as calculated at the fiber node and at amplifier depths N+1, N+2, etc.
View the Average SC-QAM or OFDM column, which shows you the average across all frequencies.
Look at the frequencies that are out of specification.
For each frequency, ServAssure NXT shows the average value for the modems below the amplifier. The parentheses contain the number of modems below the amplifier that are operating at the particular frequency.
For example, in this picture, the Relative Rx Power Average for Amplifier 112100 is -982.01 at 825 MHz and - 983.38 at 831 MHz.
Click in the Average column header to see the threshold settings for the selected parameter.
You can see how far out of specification the amplifier is.
