For each device, the device Properties window provides:

These five areas are displayed on separate pages within the device properties window. The Identity, Performance, Fault, and Administration pages for the device contain information that is common to most devices. There may be some minor variations for certain devices. The Configuration & Status page, however, contains device-specific information. To view a page, click the corresponding tab.

    NOTE:

When you make changes in a page, you must first save your changes by clicking the Apply button on the page before selecting another page. If you make changes in one page and select another page before saving, your changes will be lost.

    Considerations:

For SNMP readable parameters, the Device Properties Screen allows you to view the parameter value in SDM database, as well as the value on the device. Similarly, for SNMP configurable parameters, the modified value of a parameter is applied in the SDM database as well as on the device. SNMP requests, however, require that the device be up and running, with the SDM having established communication with the device.

If the device status on the SDM displays Communication Not Established, then the SDM ignores the SNMP operations on the device. Consequently the reads and writes to the parameters from Device Properties Screen are only made on SDM database. This holds true even if the device has actually resumed operation, but the SDM has yet to establish communication with the device. The SDM does periodic status polling of devices, and will automatically reestablish communication with the device in the next polling interval (default value 5 minutes).

To access device values via SNMP immediately, you can initiate a manual status poll on the device management interface (instead of waiting for the periodic polling).
