You have two options for searching for content: exact and partial word matches.

  • Exact Word Matches: Type the word you are looking for and begin the search. The search results display any pages that include the word as you typed it. For example, searching for site returns only pages that include site, and not pages that include website or sitemap.
  • Partial Word Matches: Type the text you are looking for, select Match partial words, and begin the search. For example, searching for site returns pages that include site, website, or sitemap. You can use this option to search for all variations on a word or word fragment.

The Web Help search uses a combination of Boolean AND and OR logic.

When you type multiple words or partial words into the search box and click Search, the search first displays those results that meet the AND logic (they include all of the words/fragments in the exact order, as an exact phrase), and then the results that meet the OR logic (they include any of the words/fragments).

For example, if you search for translating elements, the sort order is as follows:

  1. Topic Titles with an exact match for translating elements, if such matches exist,
  2. Topic Content with an exact match for translating elements, if such matches exist,
  3. Topic Content that includes the word translating or the word elements, or both words, in no systematic sort order except the order in which the software encounters the words as it sequentially searches topics.
