You can create a Topology Set from the Topology Set view, or from a type-specific tab. However, your user profile must belong to a group that contains the "Topology Set" permission.
The maximum size of each type of set is as follows:
- CMTS set — 1000
- CM Set — 1000
- Channel Set — 1000
Create a Topology Set from Topology Set view
To create a Topology Set from the Topology Sets view:
- Click the + to open the
Create New
Topology Set dialog box.
NOTE: The Create New Topology Set dialog box is free-floating. It can be moved around the user interface to better access the information behind it. - Select the type of set you want to create: CM Set, CMTS Set, or Channel Set.
- Enter a name.NOTE: When naming a Topology Set, it can be useful to include the Topology Set type in the set name.
- Add elements to the set, using
the following methods:
- Import elements from a CSV file.
Click import a CSV file, and select the file to import. See Import Topology Set file format for accepted file formats.
- For a CM Set:
- Start typing a
MAC address in the search field, and select a match.
Partial matches appear as soon as you start typing. Searches match the following fields:
- MAC address
- Fiber node
- Customer ID
- From the Hierarchy view, open the Modem Summary tab, and select modems to add to your set.
- Start typing a
MAC address in the search field, and select a match.
- For a CMTS Set:
- Start typing a
CMTS name in the search field, and select a match.
Partial matches appear as soon as you start typing.
- From the Hierarchy view, click on the box adjacent to the CMTS name to add it to your set.
- From the Hierarchy view, open the CMTS tab, and select CMTSs add to your set.
- Start typing a
CMTS name in the search field, and select a match.
- For a Channel Set:
- Start typing a
channel name in the search field, and select a match.
Partial matches appear as soon as you start typing. Use the "@" as a delimiter between the channel and CMTS. Searches match the following fields:
- Channel
- CMTS ID
- CMTS Nodes
- IfAlias
- From the Hierarchy view, open the Channel Summary tab, and select channels to add to your set.
NOTE: You cannot mix upstream and downstream channels in one set. - Start typing a
channel name in the search field, and select a match.
- Import elements from a CSV file.
- Click Confirm to create your Topology Set or Cancel to exit the dialog box without creating your Topology Set.
Create a Topology Set from type-specific tabs
For each type of Topology Set, you can create a Topology Set from the type-specific tab.
To create a Topology Set from the Hierarchy view:
- Navigate to the tab of the type
of Topology Set you want to create:
- Modem Summary tab for a CM set
- Channel Summary tab for a Channel Set
- CMTS tab for a CMTS set
- Select the items you want to add to a set.
- Click Create Topology
Set. The Create New Topology
Set dialog box opens.
NOTE: The dialog box is free-floating and can be moved around the user interface.Once the dialog box is open, you can continue to select elements from the table to add to the set.
- Complete filling out the dialog box with a Topology Set name, and optionally, additional elements.
- Click Confirm to create your Topology Set or Cancel to exit the dialog box without creating your Topology Set.
