- In Global view, find an alarm
that shows the type CMTS Outage
. - Click the arrow
to expand the row and open the sub-table. - The Info
tab indicates the most likely location of the problem in the HFC network.

The Info tab lists the ID, Organizational Path, Affected Component, Alarm State, and Verified. Two items in the tab that do not appear for Fiber Node alarms and only appear for CMTS Outage alarms are:
- Organizational Path: Indicates the path from the top of the Hierarchy to the CMTS.
- Affected
Component: Indicates the component that is the source of
the problem. The CMTS component is displayed as a link and links to the
Summary section of Analyze Network
View.
NOTE: You must have Analyze Network View permission to view the affected component details. If not, the CMTS component is displayed without the link.
- If there are fiber nodes
associated with the CMTS outage, click the Affected FNs tab in the sub-table,
for additional information about the fiber nodes.
The tab lists all the fiber nodes involved in the Outage alarm. If there are no associated fiber nodes, the table is empty.

When a CMTS outage occurs, all CMTS devices on the affected fiber node will go to SNMP_NODATA (default) or Unknown state (depending on the configuration).
- Click a fiber node name to open the Fiber Node view.
- Click the Info link at
the end of the breadcrumbs to see the segment and service group
associated with the Outage.

A dialog box opens containing contextual information about the fiber node.
