The VTM Alarm dashboard displays the alarms it receives from the Domain Manager Telemetry Pipeline. VTM receives and processes various types of alarms from VUE via syslog receiver in Domain Manager. VUE version 2.3.7 (or later) is required for VUE to send alarms to a Domain Manager Syslog receiver.

VUE sends only one alarm/event type per instance for each type of alarm on a VUE server (for example, Aux Core, Transport Stream, Mapping, RxD, Channel, and so on). For example, an RxD with 5 alarm instances of "Dropped Ingress Packets Errors" results in one alarm being sent by a VUE server.

VTM receives an alarm/event from the VUE, and then queries the VUE system for further details about the alarm and all instances of the received alarm type. VTM also performs alarm correlation using any Service Group configuration it has. For example, impacted Service Groups/Transport Streams and mappings correlate with and display a "Loss of Input Stream" alarm type.

VTM maintains alarm history information for each received alarm type for up to 7 days.
