  1. Select Templates > Frequency from the navigation bar.
  2. Click the (Menu) button.
    The menu options appear.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Enter a unique name for this template.
  5. Select the template type, which corresponds to the type of service group to which this template can be applied:
    • Broadcast: For building out Broadcast Service Group frequencies.
    • Narrowcast: For building out Narrowcast Service Group frequencies.
    • Downstream OOB: For building out Downstream OOB Service Group frequencies.
    • Upstream OOB: For building out Upstream OOB Service Group frequencies.
  6. The Start Frequency value is added, by default, on selecting the template type. You can modify this value.
    Template typeDefault start frequency
    Broadcast 111000
    Narrowcast111000
    Downstream OOB75250
    Upstream OOB8096
  7. Enter the Frequency Count. The valid range depends upon the template type.
  8. Select the Annex Mode. The Annex is used to determine the channel width; that is, the spacing between two adjacent channel frequencies.
The frequencies are populated based on the specified (non-zero) frequency count.
    • If the transmission mode is set to Annex A, the frequency spacing is set in steps of 8 MHz to ensure that different frequency templates do not overlap within the 8Mhz channel spacing.
    • If the transmission mode is set to Annex B or Annex C, the frequency spacing is set in steps of 6 MHz.
  9. To add a new frequency in the template, click the and enter a Frequency in KHz.
  10. For Broadcast and Narrowcast template types, you can modify the frequency modulation. Select one of the following:
    • QAM_256: 256-QAM SCTE standard (Default)
    • QAM_64: 62-QAM SCTE standard
For Downstream OOB and Upstream OOB template types, the modulation is set to QPSK (4 Phase Shift Keying SCTE standard).
  11. To remove a frequency from the template, click the .
  12. Click Save.

The template is added to VTM.
