The right pane shows the Top Alarms table. By default, the alarms listed in the Global Top Alarms table are ordered by severity.

Each row in the table represents one alarm, which provides the following actions and information:

  • Expand Row — Click to open the sub-table for a row.

    The sub-table contains:

  • Severity — The severity level at the time that the latest data is received. Severity levels are based on a configured threshold definition, and can be:
    • Critical
    • Major
    • Minor
  • Alarm ID — ID of an alarm that can be exported to a CSV file. This information is useful for tracking and reporting purposes. Hidden by default.
  • Type — Can be any of these:
    • Outage — Fiber Node Outage Alarm
    • Proactive — Fiber Node Proactive Alarm
    • CMTS Outage — CMTS Outage Alarm
    • Outage — NCN Outage Alarm
  • Hub — The hub name associated with the alarm.

    Select Hub from the Gear > Display list to display this column. If Hub is not available, this column will show "--".

  • Size — The number of cable modems associated with the alarm.

    Select Cable Modem Count from the Gear > Display list to display this column.

  • Component — The name of the Fiber Node or CMTS on which the alarm is located. If the component is an active link, you can click on it to open Fiber Node view for the fiber node and highlight the alarm.

    For NCN Outage Alarms, this column shows the icon in the Fiber Node column. Use the Affected FNs tab to open Fiber Node view. For more information about NCN alarms, see Node combining network alarms.

  • Fiber Node — The name of the fiber node on which the alarm is located. Click the link to open Fiber Node view for the fiber node and highlight the alarm.

    For NCN Outage Alarms, this column shows the icon in the Fiber Node column. Use the Affected FNs tab to open Fiber Node view. For more information about NCN alarms, see Node combining network alarms.

  • Detected — The date and time at which the alarm was Detected. Click the link to move to the time at which the alarm was detected. This change is reflected in the breadcrumbs. See Obtain data from different points in time.

    Select Detected Timestamp from the Gear > Display list to display this column.

  • Verified — The date and time at which the alarm was Verified. Click the link to move to the time at which the alarm was verified. This change is reflected in the breadcrumbs. See Obtain data from different points in time.

    Select Verified Timestamp from the Gear > Display list to display this column.

  • Ack — Acknowledged: Indicates that a user has acknowledged the alarm, which typically means that the alarm does not need to be reviewed again. A √ (acknowledged) or - (unacknowledged) appears in the column. A comment indicator icon appears in the Ack column when a comment has been added. See Acknowledge alarms.

    Select Acknowledged and Commented from the Gear > Display list to display this column.

  • Select Action — Use this menu to perform actions on the selected alarm.
    • Troubleshoot — Opens the Fiber Node view with the alarm selected.
    • Acknowledge — Users assigned to a group that contains the Alarm Acknowledgment permission can determine that the alarm has been examined and does not require immediate attention. See Acknowledge alarms.
    • Notes — View the history of an alarm in the Alarm Notes. See View alarm notes.
    • Comment — Users assigned to a group that contains the Alarm Notes or Alarm Acknowledgment permission can add comments regarding an alarm. Other users can view these comments in the Alarm Notes. See Add a comment to alarm notes.
