A group is a logical collection of devices by IP address, regional location, device type, and so on. Clicking Groups in the View List shows the first-level group icons. Clicking a first-level group displays the subordinate groups nested immediately beneath it and so on, as each downward tier of groups is clicked.
When the SDM is initially started, groups are not displayed. You must first add a group and discover or add devices before you can view them.

The Groups snippet from the Active Window shows only the first-level groups. A colored circle is displayed over each group to indicate the most severe alarm status of a device or subgroup in that group. Double-clicking a group icon causes the devices and subgroups associated with that group to be displayed in map view. The corresponding group in the View List for that map view is also highlighted.
Clicking a Group in the View List causes the contents of that group to be displayed in the Active Window.
