A Device Backup contains data that is stored on the system. Configuration of Policy Parameters provides a way to manage the amount of data retained, and specify when it can be removed from the system.
- Select to display the Device Backup Management page.Configuration > Backup Management
- Click Backup Settings. The page is updated with parameters that provide the ability to configure policy settings for Device Backup operations.

- In the Scheduled Device Backup Retention Interval field, enter a value from 0 to 30, inclusive. This value is the number of days in the retention interval; device backups older than the configured retention interval will be deleted. The default retention interval is 7 days.NOTE: Enter 0 (zero) to disable periodic removal of older device backups.
- In the Manual Backup Limit field, enter a value to specify the maximum number of device backups, per device, that can be created manually. If this Limit is exceeded, manual device backups cannot be created. The default Manual Backup Limit is 10.
- In the Asynchronous Device Backup Limit field, enter a value to specify the maximum number of device backups per device, that can be created asynchronously through filter sets. When this Limit is exceeded, the oldest backup on the device is deleted to provide room for the new backup.
- When an event or alarm that can trigger a device backup is generated on the SDM, the device is not backed up immediately, but waits for a user-defined interval, as specified in the Asynchronous Device Backup Wait Interval field. This allows the device configuration to stabilize before it is backed up. In the Asynchronous Device Backup Wait Interval field, enter a value to define the number of seconds in this interval.
- When all necessary policy parameters have been defined, click Apply.
