Some configuration parameters cannot be restored from device backups. These include:

  1. Common device properties that lose their context outside of their original SDM instance, and which should not be applied to other SDMs; for example:
    • Hostname
    • IP address
    • Subnet mask
    • MAC addresses
    • Gateway addresses
    • Device statuses
    • Identification parameters
  2. SDM management parameters, such as those used to support applying configuration changes, configuration synchronization, alarm synchronization, and SNMP community strings.
  3. Management parameters which are handled by the WebNMS framework, such as Managed status, the status polling interval, and WebNMS properties.
  4. For generic devices, those management properties that lose their context outside the original SDM instance, such as the bootfile (FOF) filename.
