Analyze OFDMA IUC efficiency with Alarm Central

Alarm Central can help you monitor and analyze OFDMA IUC efficiency as a tool for proactive maintenance.

ServAssure NXT supports the following IUC efficiency KPIs:
  • IUC Usage Efficiency (%)
  • IUC MHz Efficiency (Mbps/ MHz)

You can use Alarm Central to:
  • Analyze OFDMA IUC efficiency data per modem, per channel for modems affected by an alarm
  • Compare OFDMA IUC efficiency data to other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on historical graphs
  • Monitor OFDMA IUC efficiency and compare to defined thresholds using proactive alarming
  • Analyze and interpret relationships between OFDMA IUC efficiency and topology using proactive alarming with logical and physical maps

Per-modem, per-channel OFDMA IUC efficiency

The Alarm CentralOFDM/A tab can help you view per-modem, per-channel OFDMA IUC efficiency metrics and compare those metrics to other metrics on the same modems and channels.
  1. Filter the Alarms table in Alarm Central to show Proactive alarms.
  2. Filter the OFDM/A tab to show only OFDMA channels.
  3. Use the gear menu to add the IUC efficiency KPIs to the table.
You can compare OFDMA IUC efficiency metrics to other metrics shown on the table. You can also click a MAC Address or Channel on the table to analyze the modem details in the Analyze Modem View application.

IUC efficiency compared to other KPIs

The Historical tab displays data trends over time for KPIs associated with items selected in Alarm Central. You can compare OFDMA IUC efficiency metrics belonging to a selection of modems against other metrics collected during the same period of time. This comparison can help analyze proactive alarms and interpret the conditions associated with the alarms.

Proactive OFDMA IUC efficiency alarming

Proactive alarms in Alarm Central can help identify areas where proactive maintenance can be performed to improve the health of the network. You can configure proactive alarm thresholds using OFDMA IUC efficiency metrics to better monitor and analyze areas of the node where cable modems cannot leverage the highest IUC defined on the OFDMA channel(s), or where throughput obtained per megahertz is low.

OFDMA IUC efficiency and topology

Alarm Central can identify alarms, including proactive alarms, in the network topology and then display those alarms on logical and physical maps. You can use Alarm CentralMap and Logical tabs to analyze and interpret the relationships between network elements that have OFDMA IUC efficiency alarm threshold events in common.
