It is possible for both servers to be active at the same time. This can only happen when there is a complete loss of HBs between the two servers in a cluster. To avoid this situation, it is highly recommended that two HBs be configured for each RC with one of the HBs using the management interface. In addition, the second HB can be a direct cable attachment between the 2 servers (this reduces the chances that a HB loss can occur).
When both servers are active, there will be output on both servers. To resolve an active-active state, you must either shutdown one of the servers or delete the RC through the EM.
If you choose to delete the RC, it will restore the initial active server and remove configuration from the initial standby server. This option works only if both servers are accessible by the VUE controller (VPS #2).
To shutdown one of the servers, you can log into the initial standby server and perform a shutdown.
Before bringing the server back on-line or creating the RC again, make sure to correct the loss of HB issue.
