  1. Open the Properties display for the device and select the Entitlements tab.
  2. Locate the Licenses Across Devices heading; it includes two columns, labeled In Use and Available. The Available column must report the presence of available licenses in order to proceed.
There are two ways that authorization can be granted:

A drop down menu provides options to Authorize or Unauthorize an entitlement, or a text field is provided, in which a numeric value (for example, 3) is entered.

The method used to grant authorization depends on what is required by the entitlement; for example, the NC 1500 entitlement requires that a numeric value be entered.

In the Authorize column, select Authorize, or enter a numeric value, as necessary.

  3. Click Apply. The columns under the heading Licenses Across Devices will update appropriately. The Active Status field displays the current authorization state of the device.
  4. If necessary, reboot the affected device. Certain devices require a reboot for the entitlement change to take effect. The Active Status column will indicate if a reboot is required.

    Authorization Status

Statuses are Authorized, Pending Authorization, Unauthorized, and Pending Unauthorization:

Authorized - the device is authorized to use the licensed feature.

Unauthorized - indicates the device is unauthorized.

Pending Authorization - the authorization is currently not accepted by the device.

For example, if a device is swapped during the authorization process, the new device will have a different MAC, which must be resolved before the authorization is accepted by the device. Also, if a device is off-line when the authorization is initiated, it must be re-initiated, as the device will still indicate it is not authorized.

Pending Unauthorization - the device was unable to accept the operation (for example, the device was off-line). Resolving this status requires user intervention at the device.

Active StatusThe current status of a device; indicates if a reboot is necessary.
SupportedIndicates if the device is capable of using the line item feature.
Licenses Across Devices: In UseIndicates if the device is capable of using the line item feature.
Licenses Across Devices: AvailableThe number of licenses presently assigned for that entitlement feature.
