Entitlement FeatureDescription

Common Tier Encryption

Common Tier Encryption (CTE) enables SEM encryption of VOD content using Entitlement Control Messages (ECMs). The ECMs contain an encryption tier value (for example, the pre-encryption tier) that is used to protect VOD content from QAM TV acquisition.

CTE also provides the capability to protect content from unauthorized digital reproduction (for example, Copy Protection) and/or analog recording. The encryption tier is considered

common only in that all ARRIS set-tops will be authorized the same pre-encryption tier; however, viewing the content of another VOD subscriber would require illicit force tuning to that subscriber's hidden VOD channel.

All VOD streams routed through a SEM operating in this mode will be encrypted using ECMs containing the common tier value as well as embedded default Copy Control Information (CCI) and Analog Protection System (APS) data. The default CCI data within the ECM will be set to Copy Never and the default APS setting for Copy Protection Encoding will be set to Off for the analog composite output. The SDM operator can change these defaults as required.

Configuration Backup Export and Import

This entitlement must be activated to import and export the device backup.

Device Limit

Device Limit configures the number of total devices the SDM is permitted to manage.

Ethernet Capture

Authorization of this entitlement is required for functionality related to enabling Ethernet captures to be performed from any of the configured NIC interfaces on the SDM. Data from the Ethernet captures can be stored in the SDM s database so that reports or graphs can be generated from the captured data.

Ethernet User-Defined Filtering

When the Ethernet Capture feature is enabled, Ethernet User-Defined Filtering provides the ability to create custom filters that can be applied when capturing Ethernet packets on an SDM s network interface. SDM user interface screens allow you to configure filtering criteria (such as source IP address, source port number, and so on).

Outage Detection

Outage Detection provides the ability to detect, through the NC 1500, set-top network (plant) outages.

SDM

Enhanced Capabilities

SDM Enhanced Capabilities are used to differentiate a configuration-only SDM from a configuration and monitoring SDM. In addition, this entitlement may be required for future SDM entitlements. The Enhanced Entitlement authorizes the following features on the SDM:

Trap Forwarding

Trap Processing, receive and process traps/notifications from external devices

Configuration Change Traps/Notifications

Other Traps/Notifications

Northbound Processing & Configuration

Northbound Filtering (Future Release)

Communication and Interface Alarm Processing

Manual Status Polling

Manual & Periodic Alarm Synchronization

SDM Health Reporting

SDM Statistics (configuration and reporting)

SDM Statistics Alarm Thresholds (editing thresholds and generating alarms)

LDAP Support

Auto Configuration Synchronization

SDM Northbound Filtering

SDM Northbound Filtering authorizes the ability to create filter sets, and assign a filter set to a given northbound destination.

SDM Performance Statistics

SDM Performance Statistics authorizes the ability to collect statistics from supported devices and display reports of collected statistics. The SDM Enhanced Capabilities entitlement is a prerequisite for the SDM Performance Statistics entitlement.

Set-top On-Plant Notification

Set-top On-Plant Notification provides, through the NC 1500, a northbound notification message to be sent to a configured IP destination, whenever the NC 1500 signs on an unprovisioned set-top box.

25,000 Set-top Authorization

25,000 Set-top Authorization allows the SDM to authorize one or more 25,000 increments of set-tops per NC 1500.
