To format the CSV configuration file in Excel with devices listed down Column A and parameters listed across in Row 1:

  1. Open the saved CSV file in Excel (to access a CSV file, All Files (*.*) must be selected in the Files of type field):
  2. Stretch Columns A and B to display the data fields.
  3. Seven rows must be inserted above the identSerialNumber parameter.
    • Highlight Row
    • Click Insert.
    • Select Rows.
    • Repeat for each added row.
  4. Populate Column A with seven titles as shown in the illustration. The title "Device" in Cell A1 is needed to indicate Column A contains a list of devices. The remaining six titles are SDM required parameters for every device.
  5. Trim the spreadsheet by deleting all of the parameter rows that have acceptable default data.
  6. Delete Column B, as the values are no longer needed to determine what default parameters can be trimmed from the spreadsheet.
  7. Highlight all of the parameters in Column A from "Device" down to the last parameter in the list.
  8. Click Edit > Copy.
  9. Starting with Cell B1 click and drag the mouse across Row 1 to highlight a range of cells equivalent to "Device" plus the number of parameters in the Column A list.
  10. Select Edit > Paste Special. The Paste Special window displays.
  11. Select Transpose and click OK.
  12. The Column A parameter titles now appear across Row 1 of the spreadsheet; however, Column A must still be deleted. Highlight Column A and click Edit > Delete > Entire Column > OK.
  13. Expand the columns as necessary and in the new Column A, under "Device" list the IP addresses of the devices to be added or modified.
  14. Populate the retained parameters.
  15. Save as completed spreadsheet. The type must be a CSV (for example, new_devices.csv). Click Yes
