Licensed systems make the spectrum analyzer available to users by adding the Spectrum Analysis permission to an appropriate group in Local User Administration. See the ServAssure® NXT Administration Guide for details on configuring users, groups, and permissions.

The feature must then be enabled before determining which modems support this capability.

To display Spectrum Availability for a modem, do one of the following:

  • Cable Modems, SC-QAM, OFDM/A Views — Select Virtual Spectrum Analyzer Availability in the Gear Menu (this column is hidden by default).
  • Map, Logical Views — Check Show Spectrum Availability in Additional Options.
A modem can show one of the following four statuses when the Spectrum column is displayed:
    • Alphabetical letters such as [A], [B], and so on—The modem has been added to the list of modems selected for spectrum analysis.
    • Plus sign [+]—The modem supports downstream spectrum analysis. Clicking on the plus sign changes the icon to an alphabetical letter and adds the modem to the list of modems ready for spectrum analysis.
    • Question mark [?]—The modem may or may not support downstream spectrum analysis. Clicking on the question mark changes the icon to an alphabetical letter and adds the modem to the list of modems ready for spectrum analysis, even though spectrum analysis may not be possible for the modem.
    • Dashes [--]—The modem does not support downstream spectrum analysis.
