The VUE system uses a Downstream External PHY Interface (DEPI) definition to set up streams for video on demand in a distributed access architecture environment. The DEPI streams are sent to the network RPDs/RMDs for QAM upconversion.
The VUE system maps narrowcast QAM frequencies to Transport Stream IDs through a Virtual Edge Device Server (VEDS) integral to VUE. The VEDS communicates with an Edge Resource Manager for capacity allocation, service group location, and tuning notifications to RPD/RMD set-tops.
VUE Next-generation on demand service is supported through DEPI streams using Remote Procedure Call (RPC). Use the applicable procedure for setting up Next-generation on demand service in the VUE network.
