The Allow Local Users feature enables or disables local management of users. User authentication is supported in 3 ways:
  1. Local user management only: users are authenticated through a local server. Local log in attempts are granted.
  2. LDAP authentication only: users are authenticated through an LDAP server. Local log in attempts are denied. This allows operators to tightly control management practices like password interval, password strength, and enforce customer password policies for their users.
  3. Local user authentication and LDAP authentication: user authentication occurs for both local and LDAP servers.
NOTE: When enabling LDAP for authentication, it is recommended to disable the Allow Local Users feature so that all user management remains centralized in LDAP. This helps maintain consistency and simplicity in user administration by eliminating the need for separate local accounts.
