Capturing Ethernet data can potentially cause performance issues:
- When the input rate is high (greater than 60 Mbps):
- Captures running for more than 8 hours may cause the hard drive of the SDM to become full.
- Long retention interval settings for the PCAP file and Ethernet statistical data can cause the hard drive of the SDM to become full.
- Overall performance (CPU utilization) of the SDM degrades when:
- Ethernet input data rate is high (greater than 60 Mbps)
- More than 4 filters are applied to an Ethernet capture because all processing is spent on Ethernet capture processing.
