External Ethernet polls are packaged in poll libraries, which can be downloaded from the ARRIS Support site. Because they are external to SDM software and device firmware releases, External Ethernet polls can be loaded onto the SDM at any time, using the SDM's interface. It is not necessary to install a software release to get them. Each poll library contains one or more poll definitions, with revisions. When a poll is loaded, all instances of that poll are updated to that definition. The SDM accepts only the highest loaded version of a poll definition.

NOTE: The SDM Device Performance Poll entitlement must be enabled in order to use external Ethernet polls.
