Events are generated by SDM operations and by traps received by the SDM from devices on the network. To view Events, select Network Events from the Fault Management tree on the SDM.
An alarm correlates with an event that represents a single state with a known severity. To view Alarms, select Alarms from the Fault Management tree on the SDM. Each device has an alarm state which is composed of the alarms with the highest severity.
Trap filtering reduces the number of false alarms by filtering on specific criteria. Filtering is available for both alarms and events. Under the Fault menu, there are a number of filtering criteria to choose from, including Group, Severity, Device Type, and Event Name.
The Northbound Interface allows SDM-generated traps to be sent to up to four host management systems. To access this feature, select . Advanced entitlements are needed in order to use this feature.
