Topology Sets are a user-defined collection of network elements. Creating a Topology Set allows you to monitor or validate behavior of a sub-set of your network. Topology sets must contain items of the same type. You can create a set containing:

  • CMTSs
  • Cable Modems
  • Channels

Consider the following benefits of using a Topology Set:

  • You can monitor a set of elements registering a common set of issues.
  • You can monitor a set of elements that contain a particular technology, for example only DOCSIS 3.1 modems.
  • You can monitor a set of newly installed or serviced elements.

The sections that follow describe how to create and manage Topology Sets.

NOTE: Any user with access to Analyze Network View can view Topology Sets. However, to create or delete Topology Sets, your user profile must belong to a group that contains the "Topology Set" permission. See the ServAssure® NXT Administration Guide for details on permissions.
