You can create, manage, and remove service groups through the VTM interface. Once an operation is complete, VTM sends the changes to the VUE or the appropriate RxDs as necessary. The Service Groups screen shows existing service groups. You can also import and export service groups as CSV files.

Service Groups screen

The screen provides the following information for each service group:

  • Name: Unique name assigned to the service group.
  • Type: One of the four service group types: Broadcast, Narrowcast, Downstream OOB, and Upstream OOB.
  • Adzone: The advertisement zone for the service group, if specified.
  • Location: The geographic location where the service group is used, if specified.
  • Streaming Zone: (Narrowcast only) The operator-assigned streaming zone for the service group. This column is hidden by default.
  • Channel Count: Number of channels associated with the service group.
  • TS Count: Number of transport streams associated with the service group.
  • RPD Count: Number of RxDs associated with the service group.
  • Muted: Show whether the service group is temporarily turned off. This column is hidden by default.

The workflow for managing service groups is the same regardless of the service group type. However, each service group type requires different information during its configuration. See Add a Broadcast service group, Add a Narrowcast service group, GUID-7EA8E75D-4F41-4B83-BA1E-F1BAC56E8000.html, or Add an Upstream OOB service group for details.
