The Actions tab provides several tools that allow you to query information from a modem or reset it.

Reset cable modem

You can reset a modem by the CM or CMTS.

  1. Select Reset by CM or Reset by CMTS.
NOTE: If the reset is not allowed by the modem, or you do not have sufficient permissions, the option does not appear.
  2. Click Submit.

    A confirmation dialog box appears.

  3. Optionally enter a reason for resetting the modem and click Confirm.

The reset executes without blocking other actions in the user interface.

NOTE: Your user profile must belong to a group that contains the "Analyze System Eng" permission to reset a modem. See the ServAssure® NXT Administration Guide for information on users, groups, and permissions.

Query OID

You can query the current value of a MIB using an OID or the MIB name (full or partial).

  1. Determine the source of the MIB value you are querying:
    • Select SNMP Query CM to obtain the current value of the cable modem MIB.
    • Select SNMP Query CMTS to obtain the current CMTS MIB value from the parent CMTS of the selected cable modem.
  2. Enter the OID or MIB in the Enter and OID* fill-in.

For example, “.1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1” or "ifDesc". Symbolic names are case sensitive. If you omit the leading ".", it is added for you.

  3. Click Submit.

The value of the MIB is returned.

Click the gear icon in the header of the table to export the results to a CSV file.

Retrieve modem event log file

Retrieving the modem log file provides the event history in the log file. The table is initially sorted in reverse chronological order, starting with the most recent event time. You can resort the results by clicking on the column headers. The data returned includes:

  • Event ID.
  • Timestamp of first occurrence of the event.

The time reported is the modem timezone (used by SNMP).

  • Timestamp of the last (most recent) occurrence of the event.

If not available, the first occurrence time is used. If available, the time reported is the modem timezone (used by SNMP).

  • The event level.
  • Number of times the event has occurred.
  • The event log message.

To retrieve a log:

  1. Select CM Event Log.
  2. Click Submit.

The contents of the log appear in a table.

Click the column headers to re-sort the data. Click the gear icon in the header of the table to export the results to a CSV file.
