Network side interface (NSI) KPIs are available at the CMTS level of the hierarchy. The NSI is the upstream and downstream interface on the CMTS on the WAN/backbone side. For access to the internet and other data communication, the CMTS is connected to the external network through the NSI. Use the NSI statistics to analyze potential traffic issues.

Each row represents an interface. The following KPIs are included on the NSI tab:

  • In NSI Utilization (%) — Quantifies the percent of actual NSI traffic compared to the total possible traffic from the WAN in to the CMTS.
  • Out NSI utilization (%) — Quantifies the percent of actual NSI traffic compared to the total possible traffic from the CMTS out to the WAN.
  • In NSI Traffic (Kbps) — Quantifies the NSI from the WAN in to the CMTS in kilobytes.
  • Out NSI Traffic (Kbps) — Quantifies the NSI traffic from the CMTS out to the WAN over in kilobytes.

The minimum, maximum, and average values are available for each KPI, but only the maximum and average are displayed by default. Use the gear icon to change the display.

In KPIs identify indirect issues relative to downstream utilization about NSI traffic from the WAN. Out KPIs identify indirect issues relative to upstream utilization about NSI traffic from the CMTS to the WAN.
