Channel Summary metrics are available for MAC domains and MD-CM-SG contexts. Selecting one of these contexts provides a channel-level breakdown of the appropriate MD-CM-SG, MD-US-SG, or MD-DS-SG. The Service Groups column allows you to quickly change context and you can jump to the Upstream Spectrum Analyzer or Alarm Central from the Name column. Available KPIs (accessed through the Gear menu) change depending on the metric selected in the Category drop-down menu, which is described in Time panel.

NOTE: Attempting to open the Channel Summary tab on a folder or CMTS level,
when a large number of days is selected in the Time panel, can fail with a gateway
timeout or database timeout. Other factors that affect the possibility of a timeout
failure include the total number of channels in the request, the number of Minor Engine
nodes and the number of Cassandra nodes. If a timeout occurs, repeat the request.
The Gear menu selections are categorized
by KPI severity. In this example for Downstream Noise, the total number of samples is
2,170. 11% were Major (231 samples), 34% were Minor (747 samples), 48 percent were None
(1034 samples), and 7% were Unknown (155 samples).
NOTE: Total Samples shows the total of all
samples reported by all modems operating on the channel including any offline or
unknown modems that are still reporting data.

Columns include:
- Name — For names that are MD-CM-SGs, click the name to navigate directly to that MD-CM-SG in the network hierarchy.
- Modems — Number of modems on a channel reported by the CMTS at the end of the selected time period, including offline modems.
- Freq (MHz) — Center frequency of the channel.
- ifAlias — An alias for the channel as configured on the CMTS.
- MAC Domain — The MAC Domain of the channel.
- CMTS Nodes — The fiber-node names as configured on the CMTS.
- Modulation — The configured modulation type used to transmit data. Possible upstream values include Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK), and Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM 8, QAM 16, QAM 32, QAM 64, and QAM 128). Possible downstream values include QAM64 or QAM256.
- Width (MHz) — The width of the channel in MHz.
- Service Groups — Click a link to navigate directly to that Service Group or MD-CM-SG.
- Path — The path hierarchy. Click on elements of the path to navigate directly to that folder in the hierarchy.
NOTE:
- See Key performance indicators for definitions of key performance indicators.
- When the CMTS channel topology changes during a reported time range, the
channel width and modulation displayed are shown only for channels that
persist on the latest CMTS channel version after the update occurred.
Channel width and modulation are not shown for older channels that no longer
exist.
To see the older channels, change the time range to end before the CMTS channel topology change.
