Service Group Summary metrics are available for all contexts except Global Default in the Network View Hierarchy. These tables contain KPIs for both RF data and Utilization data. Available KPIs are determined by the Category and Channel Selections described in Time panel. The Gear menu selections are categorized by KPI severity. Select the columns displayed through the Gear menu.

Service group summary tab with Gear menu opened. It shows the Name, Modem Count, CMTS, MAD Domain columns selected.

Consider the following example of CER severities. Once selected, the CER severity columns are displayed under CER Thresholds.

In this example, all of the CER severity columns are selected, but only None, Unknown, and Total Samples columns contain values.
  • The total number of samples from the Total Samples column is 20,500 (20.5K).
  • The None column reports that 85.00 % of the total samples, or 17,313, had no reported severity.
  • The Unknown column reports that 15.00 % of the total samples, or 3145, had no reported severity.
In general, the percentages for each column: Critical, Major, Minor, None, and Unknown show the percentage of the samples that report in each of those ranges for the selected time period.

Consider that data for a channel is collected every 15 minutes, and defined as one sample. After one hour, 4 samples are collected; after 24 hours, 96 samples. For each of those samples, the severity is checked against the defined ranges. The percents for Major, Critical, etc, show the percentage of samples that are in those ranges for the time period selected. So if you have a 24 hour time period, and Critical reports 50%, then 50% of the samples were in the Critical range.

Keep in mind, that the accumulation of 50% of samples could have happened at any time during the 24 hour time period. For example, all samples could have registered Critical for 12 hours and then None for 12 hours. Or the samples could have registered Critical every other time for the whole 24 hours.

Certain columns in this table allow you to quickly switch context:

  • Name — For names that are MD-CM-SGs, click the name to navigate directly to that MD-CM-SG in the network hierarchy.
  • Modems — Number of modems in the service group reported by the CMTS at the end of the selected time period, including offline modems.
  • CMTS — Click the CMTS to navigate directly to that CMTS.
  • Mac Domain — Click the Mac Domain to navigate directly to that Mac Domain.
  • Path — The path hierarchy. Click on elements of the path to navigate directly to that folder in the hierarchy.

Utilization KPIs provide the same information as non-utilization KPIs and also include min, max, and average values. On MAC domains or MD-CM-SG, data is broken out by MD-US-SG or MD-DS-SG and then by channel.
