To access the External SNMP Polls page, select Performance > External SNMP Polls. The External Performance Poll Management page displays.

Use this procedure to load the selected poll definitions into the SDM database.

  1. Download the poll library from the ARRIS Support site.
  2. Place the poll library on a CD or on a networked PC that is accessible from the SDM server.
  3. Copy the poll library files to the /tmp directory on the SDM, and unzip the contents. (See File copy methods for assistance).
  4. Change to the snmp directory by typing cd /home/sdm/data/external_poll/snmp

This directory contains subdirectories with names based on the device type, version, and so on.

NOTE: If the poll library is the very first revision for a device type, the directory path is created with using a naming convention that includes the device type and version number (for example,

/APEX/1.1.0). If there are multiple poll libraries for the same version, you can create the subdirectories with any meaningful name.

  5. Copy the files from /tmp to /home/sdm/data/external_poll/snmp/<subdirectory name for this poll library - if any>.
  6. Click Scan.
  7. Verify that the files are readable.
  8. Log on to the SDM.
  9. Select Performance > External SNMP Polls from the main menu bar.
  10. Click Add Poll. A table is displayed in the window. Each row in the table provides information relevant to a poll in a poll library. For example: Poll Group Name, Revision, Device Type, Model, Object Type, and Released Date.
  11. Click Check All.
  12. Select a row and click Execute to add the poll to the SDM database. The External SNMP Poll Load page is displayed.
