Video Topology Manager (VTM) is the centralized video provisioning function in a customer’s Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) environment that utilizes a Video Auxiliary Core (Aux Core) within a Video Unified Edge system. VTM provisions and configures a VUE system to:

  • Provide video channel and frequency information to a Remote Phy Device (RPD) and a Remote MAC Phy Device (RMD).
  • Allocate Transport Streams and Mappings to RPD/RMD devices.

Additionally, VTM provides the capability to group RPD/RMD devices (called Service Groups) based on the types of services being delivered, geographical location, and other distribution information.

There are four main types of Service Groups currently supported:

  • Broadcast
  • Narrowcast
  • Out-Of-Band Upstream (SCTE-55-1)
  • Out-Of-Band Downstream (SCTE-55-1)

For more detailed information on the features and capabilities of VTM, refer to the Video Topology Manager 2.5.1 User Guide.
