Templates provide an easy means of creating Transport Streams during the Service Group creation process. Transport Streams can be built for any downstream service group. Multiple methods of coordinating service information to build the stream are provided.

Template types

Transport Stream templates are created by the Service Group type for which they will be used. Templates are supported for Broadcast, Narrowcast, and Downstream OOB.

Creation method

Transport streams can be generated through multiple means:
Creation Method
Description
VUE API
Transport stream and channel configuration are coordinated by the template. Used primarily for Broadcast and Downstream OOB service groups.
UDP Port Mapping
UDP ports are mapped by VTM based on template values of starting UDP port and number of programs.
RTSP session
Transport streams are routed to the output by an external controller using the RTSP protocol. This method is available for narrowcast templates only.
RPC session
Transport streams are routed to the output by receiving and processing commands from two external sources using the RPC protocol. This method is available for narrowcast templates only.
