CommScopeServAssure® NXT (ServAssure NXT) is a suite of applications that is designed to provide comprehensive analysis, monitoring and management for DOCSIS networks. This enables broadband service providers to deliver a superior customer experience.

ServAssure NXT applications transform raw data into meaningful information, which helps operators take control of their networks  by proactively addressing network and customer problems as well as reducing mean time to restore service.

The data is collected by the CommScope ServAssure® Collection Platform (ServAssure Collection Platform) and offers complete data compatibility with multiple vendors and DOCSIS versions and has the ability to scale to large scale DOCSIS network deployments.

You can choose the application options that address the challenges you face, enabling you to design an Assurance solution to meet your specific business needs. Applications have a common user interface and include the following licensed applications:

ServAssure NXT Alarm Central Proactive Manager

Proactive Manager is positioned to help cable operators proactively maintain the HFC network allowing them to deliver a superior customer experience:
  • Predicts service disruptions with dramatically improved HFC network problem detection and resolution.
  • Uses true analytics, based on an extensive set of patent algorithms from HFC experts.
  • Collaboratively analyzes data to accurately derive the location and cause of degradations.
  • Preemptively addresses previously undetectable issues before they can become service affecting.
  • Provides higher workforce productivity while achieving reduced Mean Time To Restore (MTTR) for services, much to the delight of their customers.

ServAssure NXT Alarm Central Outage Manager

Outage Manager can help cable operators quickly resolve Outages on the HFC network:
  • Delivers cable customers a superior customer experience by automatically and accurately declaring outages before customers call.
  • Accurately identifies the source of an outage, which allows cable operators to reduce MTTR for services and provide quicker outage resolution.
  • Adopts a complete alarm lifecycle, putting the focus on affected customers and eliminating false outages.

ServAssure NXT Analyze Modem View

  • Provides insightful Network Performance information to improve capacity and reliability of DOCSIS networks.
  • Analyze is an optional application that requires its own license. This license also includes access to Network View and Modem Sessions applications.
  • Analyze empowers network engineers and technicians to identify and fix network and modem problems by providing detailed views into DOCSIS CMTS configuration and performance. Analyze also resolves individual customer issues by providing real-time and historical data about DOCSIS customer premises equipment (CPE).

ServAssure NXT Analyze Network View

Network View has a Network Hierarchy that shows the logical organization of the CMTS, ranging from the MAC domain down to individual channels. Changes to DOCSIS mean more complicated memberships of modems and channels are possible. In addition:
  • Network View is a top-level application that stands on its own but is also accessible from Analyze and Alarm Central.
  • Network View is included with the optional Analyze license. Even if a license exists, this feature will not appear in the interface unless this permission is added to a user profile. See the ServAssure® NXT Administration Guide for more information.
  • It requires Enrichment mode to be enabled. This is accomplished through Tenant Configuration. Contact CommScope Product Support for assistance.

ServAssure Dashboard for Alarm Central

CommScope ServAssure® Dashboard for Alarm Central (ServAssure Dashboard for Alarm Central) is a standalone component integrated with ServAssure NXT that provides high level reporting on the health of the network and assists with resource organization.

Refer to ServAssure® Dashboard Microservice Documentation for additional information.

Modem Sessions

Modem Sessions is a ServAssure NXT application that permits frequent cable modem data capture and analysis to help troubleshoot intermittent packet loss. The Modem Sessions application runs real-time data collection for a cable modem in short intervals (approximately 1 minute), then graphs DOCSIS KPIs such as SNR, CER, and power levels.

Modem Sessions is included with the optional Analyze license. Even if a license exists, this feature will not appear in the interface unless this permission is added to a user profile. See the ServAssure® NXT Administration Guide for more information.

Upstream Spectrum Analyzer

The Upstream Spectrum Analyzer is a return path analyzer that provides visibility to the Upstream Spectrum directly from the CMTS in real time. The Spectrum analyzer is currently qualified for the CommScope E6000® CER including Remote PHY deployments where there are no upstream ports to connect expensive hardware probes to display the spectrum. In addition:
  • The Spectrum analyzer is pre-integrated to Analyze and Alarm Central, which enables users the ease and reducing MTTR when troubleshooting problems.
  • Availability of plant topology in Alarm Central will provide much needed context when troubleshooting an upstream channel with the Spectrum Analyzer.
  • Upstream Spectrum Analysis can be used in conjunction with DOCSIS modem spectrum capabilities for a view of spectrum health from CMTS to Home.
  • Node Characterization, Alignment and Troubleshooting with CW tones that can be displayed on the Upstream Spectrum.
NOTE: This feature requires a License.

PreEQ

PreEQ is an Alarm Central module designed to show information derived from the pre-equalization data available on each modem and channel combination on a fiber node. This data is designed to show where pairs of defects exist in an HFC network that cause reflections and echoes in the upstream direction. By examining the adjustments the CMTS sends to the modems to correct these defect pairs, a technician can infer where the defects exist and the distance between them.

Pre-equalization modem data results are displayed on the Alarm CentralPreEQ tab according to frequency. PreEQ data can be shown for all frequencies or isolated to a single frequency. For each frequency, modems that have been flagged as crossing the Echo Detection Threshold (NMTER) are compared to find similarities. Modems that are sufficiently alike, or meet a comparison threshold, are grouped together into an issue group. Modems in the same group are likely affected by a common issue.

The PreEQ view displays the strength of corrections that are sent to modem equalization traps to compensate for reflected, or echo, transmissions. The Tap Coefficients graph in the PreEQ view shows for each frequency the strength of equalization performed for each tap. You can compare these measurements to discern where in the network transmission energy is reflected and delayed.

The PreEQ view also displays the size of a correction as it occurs in time relative to the main tap. The In-Channel Response graph shows these corrections per frequency and identifies the center channel for each frequency as well as the channel width.

Insight Reporting

CommScope ServAssure® NXT Insight Reporting (Insight Reporting) enables you to access summaries of data over longer ranges than provided by ServAssure® NXT (ServAssure NXT) alone. The data is available in the form of dashboards that leverages data from ServAssure® NXT Insight Views (Insight Views).

Insight Reporting provides access to the following:

  • Outlier, top/bottom n, and comparison based reports:
    • RF Performance
      • Errors
