The VTM software product is the centralized video provisioning function in a customer’s Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) environment that uses a Video Auxiliary Core. VTM facilitates video configuration of Remote PHY Devices (RPDs/RMDs) through a Video Unified Edge (VUE) cluster.
VTM enables VUE to operate as an AUX core for new and existing RPD/RMD devices based on geographical location and other video distribution information. VTM provides the ability to configure RPDs/RMDs into Service Groups via the VUE (AUX Core). Currently, there are 4 main types of supported Service Groups:
- Broadcast
- Narrowcast (UDP Port Mapping, RTSP, RPC)
- SCTE-55-1 Upstream Out Of Band (OOB)
- SCTE-55-1 Downstream Out Of Band (OOB)
Upon configuring RPDs/RMDs into Service Groups, VTM then configures and manages the channel/RF frequency information on the RPDs/RMDs based on channel map information acquired from the Digital Access Controller (DAC) or from Frequency Templates.
RPD/RMD information is entered into VTM either manually through the VTM UI or programmatically through the VTM API(s). RPD/RMD information can also be entered into VTM by synchronizing the RxD device from the Domain Manager.
