| Connection | Description |
|---|---|
| Poller to CMTS | The ServAssure Poller Nodes poll the
configured set of CMTS using SNMP over UDP. ServAssure Pollers receive
information about what CMTS to poll and the object identifiers
(OIDs) to poll from the ServAssure Collection Manager. For certain
models of CMTS implementing DOCSIS 3.1 PNM differently, the poller
will also need to connect to CMTS over FTP. NOTE: As of firmware
rev. 5.x on the E6000 (and
specific to the E6000), the ServAssure Poller uses the
FTP or SFTP path when retrieving PNM data from the
CMTS. |
| Cable modems/CMTS to poller | TFTP connections As per the DOCSIS 3.1 specification, cable modems/CMTS will upload PNM data over TFTP once the request has been initiated by the ServAssure Poller. The ServAssure Poller runs a TFTP server within the ServAssure Poller application (it is not a separate process from the ServAssure Poller application). ServAssure Poller can optionally include a designated PNM node to listen for and process all TFTP-related PNM requests from Cisco and Casa devices. Refer to ServAssure TFTP Receiver for details. |
L2TP connections In a Remote PHY system, L2TPv3 is carried directly over IP and does not use TCP or UDP. You must ensure that your network allows for these packets to be forwarded. For example, by ensuring that any configured ACLs on intervening switches allow packets with IP protocol 115 (IP_PROTO(115)). Refer to ServAssure L2TP Receiver for details. | |
| Poller to cable modems | The ServAssure Poller Nodes poll
cable modems for data using SNMP over UDP. ServAssure Pollers receive
information about what information to retrieve on the cable modems
from the ServAssure Collection Manager. Polls from
poller to CM can be initiated by any ServAssure Poller in the cluster,
depending on which poller pulls the poll request off the queue. NOTE: Port is not
applicable to ICMP. |
| Poller to ServAssure Collection Manager | The ServAssure Poller nodes push data retrieved from CMs and CMTS to ServAssure Collection Manager over HTTP. |
| ServAssure Collection Manager to RabbitMQ | The ServAssure Collection Manager Nodes connect to RabbitMQ nodes over AMQP for push poll requests (both bulk and on-demand) on the queue for retrieval by ServAssure Poller Nodes. |
| Poller to RabbitMQ | The ServAssure Poller Nodes (including ServAssure L2TP Receiver) connect to RabbitMQ over Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) to retrieve poll request messages placed on the queue by ServAssure Collection Manager. These include bulk data requests from devices as well as on-demand requests. |
| ServAssure Collection Manager to CTM API | The ServAssure Collection Manager nodes request
SNMPv3 details from a Central Token Management (CTM) API if SNMPv3
data collection is enabled. The IP and port are configurable and
dependent on the CTM API being supplied. NOTE: SNMPv3 support is a licensed feature that requires deployment and
configuration of an external token manager as well as significant additional
hardware and system resources. Please contact CommScope Technical Support for
additional information. |
| All nodes to Metrics Platform server | All ServAssure Collection Platform nodes send system and other application-based metrics and data to the Metrics Server for monitoring and overall health statistics. |
| All nodes to logging server | When the logging platform is installed, all ServAssure Collection Platform nodes send log data to the Central Logging Server. |
| Desktop browsers to Metrics Platform server | Administrator users require desktop web browser access to the Metrics Server for viewing System Administration and Application Monitoring. |
| Desktop browsers to logging server | Administrator users require desktop web browser access to the Logging Server for viewing centralized logging in Kibana. |
The diagram Figure 1 shows how ServAssure Collection Platform components interconnect.
