Some configuration parameters cannot be restored from device backups. These include:
- Common device properties that lose their context outside of their original SDM instance, and which should not be applied to other SDMs; for example:
- Hostname
- IP address
- Subnet mask
- MAC addresses
- Gateway addresses
- Device statuses
- Identification parameters
- SDM management parameters, such as those used to support applying configuration changes, configuration synchronization, alarm synchronization, and SNMP community strings.
- Management parameters which are handled by the WebNMS framework, such as Managed status, the status polling interval, and WebNMS properties.
- For generic devices, those management properties that lose their context outside the original SDM instance, such as the bootfile (FOF) filename.
