Before creating any service groups, make sure that you have created templates for the appropriate service groups and transport streams. Gather the following from the components in your DAA environment:

VUE

  • VUE credentials (username/password) are needed for adding a VUE.
  • The AUX Core ID from the VUE is needed to coordinate with the Principle Core configuration.
  • The GCP IP address from the VUE is needed to coordinate with the Principle Core configuration.
  • Configured vARPDs are needed prior to creating Out-of-Band Upstream Service Groups.
  • Any VIPs defined for UDP Port Mapping in the VUE are needed prior to configuring UDP Port Mapping.

RxD

  • Any defined Location topology used for relating RxDs.

Remote PHY Configuration

  • Available Multicast ranges for assigning to Service Groups and RxDs.

VTM

Once the above information is available, complete additional preparations in VTM before creating Service Groups:
  • Define Service Catalog entries for:
    • Video Multicasts from NE
    • PID Multicasts from CASMR (DTA only)
    • MPTS Passthrough for OOB Downstream from OMs
  • Create frequency templates to save time by managing frequency assignments. They are defined per Service Group type.
  • Transport stream templates are required to create transport streams. They are defined by creation method.
