Manual capture allows you to customize your capture settings. To perform a manual capture:

  1. Open the US Spectrum Analyzer application; see Access upstream spectrum analyzer.
  2. Enter a CMTS name and channel string in the format like: <CMTS name>@<channel string>. You can also select an item from Search History as described in Search channel.
  3. Select Compatibility from the Mode drop-down menu.
  4. Select Manual from the Analysis drop-down.
  5. Select a capture Type:
    • Fullband. If you select this value, you must select Frequency as your Domain value.
    • Passband. If you select this value, you can select Frequency or Time as your Domain value.
    Refer to Type for definitions.
  6. Select a value for IUC. Refer to Interval Usage Code (IUC) for options.
  7. Select a Service Identifier. Refer to Service Identifier for options.
  8. Select a Domain option:
    • Frequency. This option is available if your Type value is Fullband or Passband. If you select this value, you can also select values for Marker Width and one or more markers.
    • Time. This option is available if your Type value is Passband.
    Refer to Domain for option definitions.
  9. If your Domain value is Frequency, set a Marker Width value.
  10. If your Domain value is Frequency you can optionally set markers, as described in Set markers.
  11. Specify a value for Sample Count as described in Domain.
  12. Specify a value for Capture Interval as described in Domain.
  13. Optionally, you can specify a custom range for the X and Y axes, as described in Set up X and Y axes.
  14. Press Play to start the capture.
  15. Extend analysis time if needed. See Extending analysis time.
